At First United Methodist Church, we strive
for an inviting service of worship that
explores the majesty, mystery and grandeur
of our God and that nurtures a personal
relationship with Him. Worship is centered
on the presence of the risen Christ and
the formation of Christian disciples. Central
to the presentation of Christ are the Word
read and proclaimed, the celebration of
the sacraments of Holy Communion and Baptism,
and diverse music from all periods of history.
Large print bulletins and hearing devices
are available upon request from our ushers.
We offer special services that emphasize
the Christian year and the significance
of the Christian season such as Advent,
Christmastide, Epiphany, Lent, Eastertide
and Pentecost. These special services enable
worshipers to experience the journey of
Christ as they make their own journey of
faith. These special services include Christmas
Eve Lovefeast, Ash Wednesday Service, Maundy
Thursday and Good Friday Services, Sunday
of Pentecost Service, the Celebration of
All Saints Day, Blessing of the Animals,
a Service of Reconciliation and Healing,
the Children's Sabbath, Thanksgiving and
Student Recognition Sunday.
Children and youth are important to our
worship as the Body of Christ. Their presence
and participation both as worshipers and
worship leaders is encouraged. Children's
Church is available for 3, 4 and 5 year
olds. Special children's worship bulletins
are also available.
Communion is open to anyone who desires
to experience the presence of our Lord and
Savior, Jesus the Christ, through participation
in this remembrance of His last meal with
His disciples. Baptismal renewal is offered
for those who desire to recommit themselves
to Christ.
We hope that you will find the Spirit
of God to be active in your worship experience
at First United Methodist Church.
