Update on Expansion

Final plans for the long expected expansion will be presented to the City of Salisbury for approval on February 4, 2008. After the approvals process, bids will be sought from several contractors capable of constructing buildings. After the bids are received the project will go before the Committee on Church Building and Location and will come before the Church Council for approval. Our hope is that we can achieve these milestones in the next two months and break ground sometime in April.

The new features of the revised plans include:

an enlargement of office space and the Music Suite;
a brides room combined with a multi-purpose room on W. Fisher Street;
an enlarged reception area in the wing on W. Fisher street;
handicapped accessible restrooms nearer the Narthex than in the original plans;
an enlarged Sacristy;
a nursery area nearer the Sanctuary; and
handicapped accessible restrooms adjacent to the Fellowship Hall with shower facilities.

The long negotiation process to acquire the property needed for the hallway behind the church is drawing to a close. We anticipate that we will be able to make the appropriate property transfers in the next couple of months.
