One of the tangible ways FUMC will celebrate Thanksgiving as a congregation is to provide the ingredients for a Thanksgiving meal for our neighbors who don’t have enough resources to purchase what they need for themselves and their families.  This is our third annual Harvest Procession! This is a  congregation-wide mission opportunity celebrated within worship- you can return your bags during the vespers services on November 15 or 11:00 worship on Sunday, November 22.

What you need to know:
*The food will be put to good use!
All food items collected on Harvest Procession Sunday will be delivered to Rowan Helping Ministries the next day.  The food will be distributed by Rowan Helping Ministries that week to local families in need so they may “feast” on Thanksgiving Day as well.

*We will provide bags & shopping lists for you!
Shopping bags will be available in Carter Lobby and the Narthex. Pick up as many bags as you are able to fill. With each bag, you will find a shopping list. Specific items have been suggested that are non-perishable and also convenient to use for those with minimal kitchen access.

*You do the grocery shopping!
Simply take the list with you to the grocery store (make it a family mission trip and take everyone with you!). Purchase all the items on the list and place them in the bags.

*Bring your bag(s) to church!
Bring your bags back by coming to either vespers service on November 15, dropping them off at the Fisher St entrance during hte week, or to 11:00am worship in person on November 22 (sign-up online). During worship, you'll be invited to bring your bags forward during the first hymn. Your gift of food will be incorporated into the liturgy of the worship service.  Take your grocery bag(s) to your pew with you and you will be given the opportunity to literally bring your gift to the altar.  If you need assistance carrying your filled grocery bag, please pull into the parking spots directly in front of the main entrance on Church Street and ushers and members of the Youth Group will be available to assist you.

If you are unable to attend worship on November 15th  (vespers) or 22nd and would still like to participate, you can either make a financial contribution towards the purchase of food items for bags or you may bring a filled bag to the Fisher Street entrance the week prior to November 22nd and we will make sure it is brought to the Sanctuary.

*Additional Opportunity:
Meet us at 8am on Monday, November 23rd to load the bags up on the church bus, and help unload and sort bags at Rowan Helping Ministries! We'll have an opportunity to help process these at RHM as well.

Contact Pastor Stacey stacey@fumcsalisbury.org if you have questions, or would like to volunteer on Monday the 23rd!
