The After-School Child Care Program was established in 1990 to provide quality care for students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade and is governed by the First United Methodist Church After School Board. The program provides a structured environment to support spiritual, emotional, physical, intellectual and creative development with a service to others component. Every effort is made to place each child in a safe environment for nurturing as well as to attending to their unique and particular needs. Children receive a healthy snack, time for staff assistance with homework, devotions and engaging developmental activities.

Admissions and Enrollment

The After School Child Care Program accepts children from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. A waiting list is kept for filling vacancies as they become available. Members of First United Methodist Church of Salisbury are given first priority.

A completed application with a $25.00 per child non-refundable registration fee is submitted for a child to be enrolled in the program. Parents will receive an acceptance letter and calendar for the year during the required parent conference.

Requirements

This program follows the Safe Sanctuary Policy of First United Methodist Church of Salisbury which requires a minimum of two adults to be present during any children and youth activities. The After-School Child Care Program is also governed by an appointed board which is responsible for overseeing curriculum, personnel, operations and budget.

Schedule

The center follows the Rowan-Salisbury School System Calendar and operates Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Our program provides a variety of healthy snacks, homework time with assistance as needed, daily devotions and engaging developmental activities. For an additional fee, the program offers Full-day Care during holidays and out-of-school days (teacher work days). Full-day care hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
