The music ministry of First United Methodist Church seeks to glorify God and foster Christian discipleship and musicianship through a program of sacred choral and instrumental music. Known for its outstanding tradition of excellence, music at First United Methodist Church plays a significant role in the spiritual and liturgical life of our congregation and community. We have many opportunities for you to get plugged-in and make music together — spanning all ages, abilities, and musical genres!
Some of these opportunities include:
Peals of Praise Handbell Ensemble (September - May)
Chancel Choir (September - May)
Summer Choir (June - August)
Vocal and Instrumental solos and ensembles
We are blessed with many quality instruments to offer our gifts and talents in worship to Almighty God. We are especially grateful to have a 3-octave set of Schulmerich handbells and 3 octaves of Malmark handchimes. Additionally, our Music Ministry Suite houses a Yamaha grand piano and our Sanctuary houses our Steinway Model B grand piano and our 53-rank Schantz/Parkey pipe organ.
The Music Ministry at First United Methodist Church is grateful to receive generous support through ongoing gifts made to the MUSIC MEMORIAL FUND. This fund enables significant musical offerings through worship, concert, and outreach each year.
Bless, O Lord, us Thy servants, who minister in Thy temple. Grant that what we sing with our lips, we may believe in our hearts, and what we believe in our hearts, we may show forth in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
